Database schema design quality principles

2. "Engineering design" as an activity produces an "engineering design" as a product. This product is a representation of the physical product to be manufactured and is variously called the "design object", the "product model", or after the media the "engineering drawing." Since a craftsman is only as good as his tools, the quality of the design tools (e.g., representations, conventions, and applications) has a direct impact on the quality of the result.
